Establishment
The Department of Computer Engineering, within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at Istanbul Kent University, commenced its undergraduate education in the 2025–2026 academic year. The department is structured with a modern infrastructure and research environment at the Taksim campus, aiming to train engineers who will lead digital transformation.
Degree Awarded
Students who successfully complete the program are awarded the 'Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering' and earn the title of Computer Engineer. The language of instruction is Turkish.
Admission and Registration Requirements
Candidates who demonstrate sufficient success in the national centralized university entrance examinations (ÖSYM) are admitted to the program. In accordance with regulations set by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and Istanbul Kent University, international students are also admitted. A preparatory program is available for students lacking language proficiency. Recognition of Prior Learning
The recognition of formal, non-formal, and informal learning is carried out within the framework of the regulations on student transfer, double major, minor, and credit transfer defined by YÖK
Qualification Requirements
Students must successfully complete 240 ECTS credits, fulfill compulsory internships, and achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00/4.00 to be eligible for graduation.

Computer Engineering is a discipline concerned with the design, development, and management of software, hardware, and data-driven systems. The department seeks to provide its students not only with technical expertise but also with an innovative mindset, entrepreneurial skills, and perspectives on ethics and social responsibility.

Access to Higher Degree Programs
Graduates of the Computer Engineering undergraduate program may apply to master’s and doctoral programs, provided they obtain the required scores from ALES, YDS/YÖKDİL, or internationally recognized exams (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS), meet the minimum GPA criteria set by the admitting institution, and pass interviews or qualifying exams.
Assessment and Evaluation
Student achievement is assessed through mid-term examinations, assignments, projects, laboratory applications, and final examinations. Evaluation is based on the absolute grading system adopted by the university. Letter grades and their coefficients are defined in the university’s grading system catalog.

Graduation requires the completion of 240 ECTS credits, compulsory internships, the successful completion of the Graduation Project and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00/4.00.

Knowledge (Theoretical / Factual)
- Possess a solid foundation in mathematics, natural sciences and computer engineering.
- Gain proficiency in fundamental courses such as discrete mathematics, probability and statistics, differential equations, linear algebra, data structures and algorithms.
- Acquire knowledge in software engineering, databases, operating systems, computer architecture, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data protection.
- Understand hardware–software integrated systems, electronic circuits and embedded systems.
