Prof. Dr. Semahat DEMİR Dean V.
Dear students,
Engineering and the natural sciences are professions and branches of science that have internalized scientific data and formulas, enabling the use of materials and energy in nature for the benefit of humanity through practice and experience, and demonstrating continuous productivity through the development of ideas. Engineers, on the other hand, are individuals who think, produce, and work using scientific methods, using their reason to analyze and utilize physical laws to provide technical solutions to the problems and needs of people and society. Since the industrial revolution and digital transformations, humanity has increasingly strived to develop various products to utilize what it has learned about nature for the benefit of humanity.
At Istanbul Kent University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, our primary goal is to cultivate leading engineers who shape the future, embrace universal values, and embody creativity and artistry. To this end, our curriculum aims to cultivate creative, analytical, and critical thinkers who anticipate and meet industry expectations. We aim to cultivate graduates who are practical and innovative in the field. We possess a strong sense of social responsibility, an unbiased perspective, team spirit, and ethical values. We believe in lifelong learning, and we are equipped with the knowledge, competence, and skills to contribute to the development of Türkiye, the world, and humanity. In the final year of study, our students will apply the theoretical and practical knowledge they acquire through projects to address real-world engineering problems. This will provide them with the opportunity to closely observe business and global challenges, design problems using the tools and methods of their own disciplines, and often generate multidisciplinary solutions.
In our Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering departments within our Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, we will provide education in our well-equipped laboratories, supported by our strong academic staff and staff from industry. In the coming years, we will open Cybersecurity Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Engineering, and pioneering new engineering departments, and offer numerous double-major opportunities. Our departments will sign agreements to provide our students with international education and internship experience.
Career planning, development, and management will be our priority in our courses. We will introduce you to entrepreneurship training and ecosystems, as well as our university's soon-to-be-established TechnoPark. As practicing and experiential engineers, you will gain the research and development (R&D) and production and development (P&D) mindset and experience at Istanbul Kent University.
Our student clubs, seminars and extracurricular activities contribute to your all-round development in your university life.
Dear students,
You are our future. Sustainable economic growth is largely achieved through innovation and competition. The science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce contributes most to innovation and competition. Graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences are a significant portion of the STEM workforce.
We need to consider STEM more broadly and holistically. The development and contribution of STEM is more effective when combined with art and design. In other words, science, technology, engineering, arts/design, and mathematics (STEAM) education and workforce are the most important drivers of innovation and competitiveness. Thanks to them, countries achieve sustainable economic growth, prosperity, and security. As engineers, I congratulate you in advance for the contributions you will make to society, recognizing the immense responsibility you shoulder as you pursue your profession. I wish you success.
