Program Chair
Dear Students,
As societies age, the demand for professional care services that enhance the quality of life for elderly individuals continues to increase. As the Elderly Care Program, our aim is to train qualified healthcare personnel who understand the physical, psychological, and social needs of older adults, possess scientific knowledge and practical skills, and adhere to ethical principles.
In our program, students receive both theoretical and practical training in areas such as supporting daily living activities of the elderly, providing care for chronic illnesses, communication, and ethical principles. As part of their education, our students undertake vocational training in institutions, gaining the opportunity to observe field practices and acquire professional experience firsthand.
Graduates of the Elderly Care Associate Degree Program can work as care staff or administrative support personnel in hospitals (especially geriatric units), nursing homes, elderly care and rehabilitation centers, residential care homes, day-care centers, and private care facilities.
They may also be employed in home settings by individuals who wish to receive elderly care services privately. In addition, graduates have the opportunity to work as auxiliary service staff in various public and private institutions.
Through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS), our graduates are eligible to transfer into the following undergraduate programs:
- Emergency and Disaster Management
- Nutrition and Dietetics
- Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
- Gerontology
- Nursing
- Health Management
- Social Work
I extend my heartfelt wishes of health, success, and all the best to each of our students who are on the path of adding value to the lives of elderly individuals.
Sincerely,
Lecturer Azize Dik
