DOUBLE MAJOR APPLICATION, ENROLLMENT AND CONTINUATION REQUIREMENTS
The student fills out the “Application Form” for Double Major and Minor Programs, which can be obtained from the “Forms” tab in the Student / Student Affairs menu.
After applying to the Double Major and Minor Programs, if the student meets the requirements specified in the Istanbul Kent University Double Major and Minor Directive, the Directorate of Student Affairs informs the student.
- Students whose cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in their major diploma program is at least 3.00 out of 4.00 at the time of application, and who rank within the top 20% of their class in terms of academic achievement, may apply for a second major diploma program.
- Students whose CGPA in their major diploma program is at least 3.00 but who are not within the top 20% of their class may also apply for a double major program, provided that their entrance score is not lower than the base score of the program to which they are applying for that academic year.
- In order to apply for a double major diploma program, the student must have successfully completed all courses taken in the major diploma program up to the semester of application.
- It is not possible to enroll in or continue two double major and/or minor programs simultaneously. However, a student may pursue one double major and one minor program at the same time.
- For applications to programs offered in Turkish, proof of language proficiency is required.
- In order to graduate from a double major program, the student must have a minimum CGPA of 70 out of 100 (2.72/4.00). During the double major education, the CGPA may drop to 65 out of 100 (2.50/4.00) only once. If the CGPA falls below 70 out of 100 (2.72/4.00) for a second time, the student will be dismissed from the second major diploma program.
- A student enrolled in a second major undergraduate program may receive the graduation diploma only after graduating from their primary major program.
- The evaluation of courses completed in the second major program by students who are dismissed from the double major program is determined by the Senate.
- For students who have earned the right to graduate from their primary major program but have not yet completed the second major program, the maximum duration of study is determined in accordance with Article 44(c) of Law No. 2547, starting from the academic year in which they enrolled in the second major program.
- Students who do not take courses in the double major program for two consecutive semesters will be dismissed from the program.
MINOR PROGRAM APPLICATION, ENROLLMENT AND CONTINUATION REQUIREMENTS
- Students whose CGPA in their major diploma program is at least 2.80 out of 4.00 at the time of application may apply for a minor program.
- Students who have successfully completed all credited courses in their undergraduate program up to the semester of application may apply for a minor program.
- In order to continue in the minor program, the student must maintain a minimum CGPA of 2.30 out of 4.00 in their major program. Students who fail to meet this requirement will be dismissed from the minor program.
- It is not possible to enroll in or continue two double major and/or minor programs simultaneously. However, a student may pursue one double major and one minor program at the same time.
- Students who have earned the right to graduate from their major program but have not completed the minor program may be granted an additional period of up to two semesters by the decision of the relevant administrative boards.
- A minor student may withdraw from the program voluntarily in any semester. A student who withdraws from a minor program cannot re-enroll in the same program.
- The evaluation of courses taken in the second major program by students dismissed from the minor program is determined by the Senate.
- Students who do not take courses in the minor program for two consecutive semesters will be dismissed from the program.
- Students who complete the minor program are awarded a certificate that does not substitute for a diploma.
